Calibration Information

Tohnichi Product Calibration Certificate

  • Torque wrenches are measuring instruments. The calibration certificate is the document which certifies the accuracy of the torque products, which are traceable to Japanese national standards. Please keep the calibration certificate for future reference.
  • Preset tools do not have external scales; therefore no calibration certificate is provided. Customers may request a specific torque set value at time of order along with a certificate confirming the set value for additional fees.
  • Tohnichi America provides an additional certificate option which is traceable to NIST. (National Institute of Standards and Technology-USA) A NIST traceable certificate can be requested for an additional fee.
  • Some digital products indicated as global "-G" models have the ability to change units of measure by key pad selection. The certificate of calibration will be provided in SI units of measure as standard. If certificate of calibration is required in Metric or American units, then it must be requested at time of order for an additional fee.
  • The factory certification can immediately be used in ISO9000 plants without the need for further acceptance inspection or any additional certifications.
  • The calibration certificate is effective for 3 years from the date of inspection at the factory or 1 year from the date of first. Fill in date of first use in the space provided on the certificate for your records. Therefore, original factory certificate has a "shelf life" of 3 years from date of inspection if tool has not been used.

Accuracy

  • Accuracy % is calculated on each indicated value. Accuracy stated as "+/- a percentage + 1 digit" indicates that the digital display will round up to the next digit in resolution if the value falls between digits.

Durability and Calibration Intervals

  • Manual torque tools are normally guaranteed up to 100,000 tightening cycles or 1 year whichever comes first. Tohnichi hand tools can also be used up to 1,000,000 tightening cycles if the function is properly maintained and adjusted at every 100,000 tightening cycles.
  • Tohnichi recommends minimum yearly calibration but user may consider more frequent intervals depending on level of usage and level of quality control required.

Compliance and Symbols

ISO Certification

Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS)

    RoHS compliant
  • Following RoHS, which restricts the use of certain hazardous materials in product manufacturing. Tohnichi has expanded its efforts in environmentally friendly producurement. Starting with our Product Catalog 2011 edition, the "RoHS" mark is shown on all applicable models conforming to the RoHs directive. For details, please contact Tohnichi.

Electrostatic Discharge (Susceptibility)

    Electrostatic Discharge
  • An electrostatic sensitive device (often abbreviated ESD) is any component (primarily electrical) which can be damaged by common static charges which build up on people, tools, and other non-conductors or semiconductors. ESD commonly also stands for electrostatic discharge.
  • The ESD symbol, below, indicates that the device is sensitive to ElectroStatic Discharge and you should not touch the device without taking measures to avoid electro static discharge which may affect the function of the device.
